Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company Hosts 44th Annual Miss Teen Dominica

As part of the 2023 Carnival celebrations in Dominica, the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company, hosted its 44th Annual Miss Teen Dominica Pageant at the forecourt of the Windsor Sports Stadium on February 12, 2023. 

The pageant was contested by representatives of five secondary schools in the persons of Ms. Mia Williams of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, Ms. Shian Sylvester of the Dominica Grammar School, Ms. Jhrrissia Gage of the Convent High School, Ms. Kenisha Antoine of the Castle Bruce Secondary School, and Ms. Shervez Seaman of the  Portsmouth Secondary School.

According to the Artistic Director of the Company, Mr. Raymond Lawrence, the event which was very well attended by young children, youth and adults, comprised an exciting programme, from the National Anthem to the Final Walk of Miss Teen Dominica 2020, and the crowning of Miss Teen Dominica 2023. 

In addition to the Opening or Introduction Round, the effervescent young ladies made appearances in Spectacular Creation and Performing Talent,  Evening Wear, as well as the Question and Answer Segment.  The contestants were also judged on their Photoshoot, which took place mainly through social media platforms, prior to the main evening of the Pageant.

The AID Bank was commended on the role that continues to play as one of the sponsors of the Miss Teen Dominica Pageant, which provides an extraordinary opportunity for young ladies to develop their skills in public speaking and in responding to questions.

This event also helps the contestants to showcase their creative talents and modelling abilities.  According to Mr. Lawrence, the Pageant is an incredible platform for the young women to boost their self-confidence and self-esteem.  AID Bank congratulates all the contestants for their stately appearances in this year’s event. 

The Annual Miss Teen Dominica continues to be an important part of the local Carnival Annual Calender.  In addition to the performances of the young ladies before and during the show, this year, the entertaining line-up  of guest artists, included the Africulture Stiltwalkers, Marigot Flag Wavers, Waitukubuli Dancers, Shanice, King Jaydee, Tasha P, Mighty Da, Shelly and Daddy Chess.
