University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus will launch its Country Conference under the theme “Food for Thought: Ensuring Sustainability through Food & Nutrition Security and Resilience in the Nature Isle”.

The conference will provide a forum for research, discussion & action on a range of topics that address food and nutrition security and its linkages to sustainable development.

The AID Bank Board of Directors, Management and Staff welcomes Ms. Joy Roberts as the newest director on the AID Bank Board.  

Ms. Roberts is a former banker with over 20 years’ experience specializing in commercial lending and operations in Dominica and regionally.  She holds an Executive Diploma in Management with the University of the West Indies and currently manages a family owned business.

With its latest donation of EC$1,800.00, the Dominica Agricultural Industrial and Development Bank’s contribution to the Dominica 4-H Clubs from 2014 to date totals EC$11, 000.00.

The bank’s donation will contribute to the cash prizes for the top three winning clubs within secondary schools competing at this year’s local dinner plate competition, scheduled for Saturday 23rd April, 2016 at the Dominica Grammar School.

In the year under review the value of AID Bank’s corporate/social responsibility surpassed EC$100,000.00  The main recipients of the bank’s donations and sponsorships were business associations, various schools, sporting entities, community groups, the elderly and the disadvantaged.

The Dominica Agricultural Industrial and Development Bank (DAIDB) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility launched the Hubert Nicholas Joseph Scholarship for Entrepreneurship at its 23rd Annual General Meeting at the Fort Young Hotel this morning.

Mr.  Hubert Nicholas Joseph (deceased) was a businessman by profession, who was appointed to the AID Bank Board of Directors from March 2002 until his death in August 2015.

On 1st February 2016, the AID Bank received an Exemplary Employer Award from the Dominica Social Security (DSS) at its 40th Anniversary Thanks-giving Service which was held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at Newtown.

Representatives of the AID Bank participated in a stakeholder national consultation, which was held on 19th January 2016, at the Garraway Hotel, to discuss the draft business plan for the National Abattoir.

This follows 3 mini-consultations in early January 2016, in which one of the key issues discussed was access to adequate financing for operators within the supply chain.

The AID Bank and the Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) can boast a loans portfolio with an exceptional performing ratio of 93%. This excellent record is thanks to the AID Bank’s due diligence process and a strong training component of the DYBT Model which is compulsory for every applicant in the program. The young entrepreneurs receive critical information to help them manage their resources and make the best decisions for their business. The DYBT maintains a close relationship with the Bank and the young entrepreneurs after they have received funding.
