AID BANK ATTENDS WORKSHOP FOR NORTH EAST FARMERS

The Dominica Agricultural Industrial and Development Bank attended and made presentations at a Workshop hosted by the Division of Agriculture - North East Agricultural Region from 2:00pm on 16th June 2016, at the Calibishie Resource Centre. The purpose for attending this workshop was to sensitize farmers in the region about the importance of record keeping and the bank’s funding opportunities in agriculture.

The workshop was attended by extension officers from the Ministry of Agriculture, representatives from two other financial institutions, and over thirty eight farmers who form part of various subsectors in the north-east ranging from livestock, to bananas and root crops.

The Bank’s first presentation was facilitated by Special Projects and Communications Coordinator, Mrs. Josephine Dechausay Titre who gave the farmers a general idea of what the bank has to offer to the agricultural industry and advised them of all the advantages of financing their projects through the AID Bank.

The second presentation on the Importance of Record Keeping was done by Ms Bertilia Bethel, the Bank’s Agricultural Development Officer.  Ms. Bethel encouraged the farmers to think of themselves as Farm Managers and think of their farms as Businesses. The farmers were also shown different examples of the types of information that should be recorded and how the information can be useful to them.

The bank has indicated its interest in participating in future workshops of the same kind to be held in the other agricultural regions.
